Vintage Sound custom amps were inspired by the Black Face amps of the mid '60s. All Vintage Sound amps come standard with a Diaz tremolo mod, plus a revoiced normal channel with reverb and tremolo effects included, except for the VS112-P 12w amp. This is a single-channel amplifier without the Diaz mod. We build everything from the VS112-P (Black Face Princeton Reverb® size amp with a 12" speaker) to the VS212 (Black Face Twin Reverb® size amp). Our amps are built using Mercury Magnetics, handwound Black Face Tone Clone transformer sets. All amps are hand-wired, point-to-point, using solid core vintage-style pushback cloth covered wire, carbon comp resistors, Sprague electrolytics, Sprague Blue Atom filter caps, and Orange Drop tone caps. Vintage Sound amps are housed in Black Face era correct fingerjointed pine Mojo cabs. We stock the cabinets in Blonde Tolex with Oxblood grillcloth and black Tolex with silver grillcloth. (Other colors available for a minimal upcharge). All of our amps come with Weber Speakers, custom faceplate, custom amp cover, a black two-button footswitch, and a five-year limited warranty. Our signature amp, the Vintage Sound Classic, is housed in a custom built solid Cherry Wood furniture quality 1X12 cab built by C.A. Ross Company.

Vintage Black Face Recreations

Vintage Sound also offers Blace Face Recreation amps. You ship us your late 60's to early 70's Silver Face Twin Reverb®, Super Reverb®, and Deluxe Reverbs® amps. We thoroughly clean and check the chassis. Any parts not up to standard are replaced. The amp is then wired back to Black Face specifications. All tone caps are replaced with Sprague Orange Drops, all electrolytics are replaced with Sprague, and all filter caps are replaced with Sprague Blue Atom. We follow the Black Face circuitry from the mid-60's for all models. We do offer a couple of modifications that are standard on our custom amps. A tremolo mod (based on the Diaz tremolo mod) is included and the Super Reverb® has the middle volume control upgraded for more control in dialing in just the right tone.
